TCU women's tennis edged by No. 13 Pepperdine, 4-3

MADISON, Wis. - The No. 15 TCU women's tennis team was defeated by No. 13 Pepperdine 4-3 in the first round of the consolation bracket at the USTA/ITA National Women's Team Indoor Championships on Friday. The women are now 0-2 on the season, while Pepperdine improves to 3-2.
The Frogs got off to an early lead, grabbing the doubles point with wins by the No. 9 duo of Ana Cetnik and Anna Sydorska and the tandem of Kewa Nichols and Nina Munch-Soegaard.
In singles action, Munch-Soegaard began by defeating Katia Sabate 6-2, 7-5 to get the Frogs out to a 2-0 lead. TCU senior Ana Cetnik defeated her second nationally ranked opponent on Friday, downing No. 22 Bianca Dulgheru 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. The win propelled the Frogs to a 3-1 lead, but TCU couldn't hold on as Sylvia Kosakowski defeated No. 100 Anna Sydorska 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 to clinch the win.
"We had a hard fought battle today," said TCU head coach Jefferson Hammond. "We took an early lead and it looked like we had the match in hand, but it slipped away."
I'm proud of this team and we'll continue to work on things we need to improve on and get ready to play tomorrow."
