Women's Tennis Drops Houston

FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU women's tennis team (2-0, 2-0 C-USA) picked up its second win of the season over a Conference USA opponent on Saturday as the Horned Frogs defeated Houston (1-1, 0-1 C-USA) by a 6-1 count at Colonial Country Club. For the second straight match, the Frogs swept doubles play. Junior Saber Pierce and sophomore Karla Mancinas captured a shutout 8-0 win against Urbin and Flood at the No. 2 position. TCU picked up hard fought victories at No. 1 by junior Paty Aburto over Miranda Foley (4-6, 6-3, 7-5), No. 5 by freshman Iris Jaklin against Sandra Blajer (6-3, 6-7, 6-0), and sophomore Ivonne Andrade over Kami Miller at No. 6 (6-1, 2-6, 6-0). At the No. 2 spot, Pierce won in straight sets against Analia Longoni, 6-3, 6-0, while senior Rosa Perez earned the 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 3 over Karine Urbin. The next action for the Frogs is Wednesday, Feb. 5 when cross-town rival Texas-Arlington comes to the Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
