TCU women's tennis wins 7-0 versus North Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's tennis team recorded a 7-0 win over North Texas on Saturday on the indoor courts at Bayard H. Friedman Tennis Center. It was the first match of the season for both teams. The Horned Frogs swept the doubles, winning first at the No. 1 position by an 8-0 score courtesy of the No. 40-ranked team of Helena Besovic and Anna Sydorska. Gloriann Lopez and Andrea Morgado clinched the doubles point at the third spot with an 8-1 win against Lynley Wasson and Ina Wieding. Ana Cetnik and Karine Ionesco were 8-3 winners over Sammie Moreton and Megan Schmulbach in the final match. Ionesco was the first to finish in singles for TCU, downing Moreton 6-1, 6-2 at the No. 4 slot. Besovic, who is ranked 22nd in singles, was next with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Wasson at the top position. Sydorska clinched the match at two singles by defeating Aziza Aba Butain 6-1, 6-0. Kewa Nichols, who sat out the fall for medical reasons, played in her first match of the season at five and won 6-2, 6-0 against Schmulbach. Morgado posted a 6-2, 6-1 win at six over Sara Giles, and Cetnik needed three sets to down Wieding 6-1, 5-7, 7-5. TCU now heads to Madison, Wis., for the ITA National Team Indoors, which take place over Feb. 2-5. The Horned Frogs are making their first appearance in the event. #14 TCU (1-0) def.
