AUSTIN, Texas - The TCU men's and women's swimming and diving teams made strong showings to both place in the top 10 at the prestigious UT Invitational Thursday through Saturday in Austin. The Horned Frog men tallied 93 points to tie Indiana for ninth place, while the Lady Frogs placed 10th with 84 points.

Highlighting the Horned Frogs individual efforts was sophomore Craig Chapman (San Antonio, Texas/Robert E. Lee), who established a school record in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 1:46.99. The mark was good for 10th among the very strong field and was an NCAA 'B' qualifying time.

"We feel very good about how we swam in what was likely the fastest meet in the nation," TCU head coach Richard Sybesma said. "To end the fall in the top 10 against that type of competition gives us a lot of confidence for the rest of our season and the Conference USA meet in February."

The host Longhorns won both meets, with the men compiling 721 points and the women finishing with 856. TCU returns to action January 4-5, 2003 at the Daktronics-UCI Invitational in Irvine, Calif.
