Women's and Men's Swimming and Diving Defeat Centenary; Men Fall to Notre Dame

SOUTHLAKE, Texas - TCU's women's swimming and diving team won each of its nine events to defeat Centenary 92-70 Saturday afternoon at the Southlake Carroll ISD Aquatics Center. On the men's side, TCU was able to triumph over Centenary 93-71, but Notre Dame avenged Friday night's loss to the Horned Frogs by defeating TCU 121.5 to 102.5. The Lady Frogs' seventh-straight win upped their overall record to 7-1 while the men remain above .500 at 5-4.
Sophomore Tiffany Strawn (Katy, Texas/James E. Taylor) won three races to lead the Lady Frogs. She captured the 200 IM in 2:11.02, while also swimming with TCU's victorious 400 medley (4:07.13) and freestyle (3:42.85) relay teams. Sophomore Lisa Champ (Canby, Ore./Canby) and freshman Jennifer Antisdale (Sammamish, Wash./Skyline) both added one individual and one relay victory to help propel the Frogs' efforts.
For the Horned Frog men, the divers continued their impressive fall showings by sweeping both events. Freshman Kelly McCain (Corpus Christi, Texas/Carroll) won the one-meter competition with a total of 286.65. Junior Chad Hummel (Friendswood, Texas/Clear Brook) added his first win of the season, notching 527.50 points to take the three-meter.
Also adding wins for TCU's men were senior Aaron Ewert (Dallas, Texas/Garland) in the 50 free (:21.45), junior Aaron McLachlan (Arvada, Colo./Pomona/Nebraska) in the 100 fly (:51.20) and sophomore Craig Chapman (San Antonio, Texas/Robert E. Lee) in the 100 back (:51.22).
The Horned Frogs will be off until ending the fall portion of their schedule at the Texas Invitational, Dec. 5-7 in Austin.
