TCU Women Swim Past North Texas

DENTON, Texas - Five TCU freshmen combined to win seven events as the Horned Frogs' women's swimming and diving team defeated Metroplex-rival North Texas 163-139 Thursday night at the UNT Student Recreation Center. The Lady Frogs' sixth-straight victory raised the squad's overall record to 6-1.

TCU freshmen Jennifer Antisdale (Sammamish, Wash./Skyline) and Sarah Murphy (Cincinnati, Ohio/Madeira), as well as junior Erin Irons (Midland, Texas/Midland) won two races apiece to pace the Frogs.

Antisdale took first in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.14) and 200 freestyle (1:55.94), while Murphy claimed wins in the 200 IM (2:19.76) and 1000 free and Irons, the C-USA Swimmer of the Week, added victories in the 50 and 500 free.

Diver Kelly Seely (Friendswood, Texas/Clear Brook) joined men's diver Kelly McCain as the second TCU frosh in as many meets to qualify for the NCAA Zone D diving. Seely's tally of 261.07 was also good for first place in the meet.

Other Horned Frog freshmen claiming victories versus North Texas included: Leann Cathcart (Henderson, N.C./Longview, Texas) in the 100 breast (1:10.32) and Meredith Loechle (Fort Mitchell, Ky./Beechwood) in the 200 fly (2:16.92).

Senior Melissa Powell (Tulsa, Okla./Bishop Kelley) and junior Codi McLamb (Amarillo, Texas/Tascosa) rounded out the Frogs' first-place efforts with wins in the 200 breast (2:27.31) and one-meter diving (247.49), respectively.

The Lady Frogs return to action on Saturday, Nov. 16 when they host Notre Dame and Centenary at 1 p.m. at the Southlake Carroll ISD pool. The TCU men are in action this Saturday, Nov. 9 versus Air Force at 1 p.m. at Wilkerson Greines pool in Fort Worth.
