FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU soccer program will close out its regular season on Friday with a match against Mountain West foe San Diego State. Start time for the contest against the Aztecs is set for 3 p.m. (PT) at the SDSU Sports Deck.
TCU (8-9-0) will look to improve on its 3-3-0 conference mark after upending Utah 3-0 last weekend at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium.
Last Thursday, San Diego State (8-7-3) battled New Mexico to a 0-0 double overtime draw. The Aztecs closed out the weekend falling to Utah, 2-1.
Scouting TCU (8-9-0)
TCU (8-9-0) comes into this Friday's match having dominated nationally ranked Utah at home. The Horned Frogs, who finished the season at 6-3-0 at Garvey-Rosenthal Soccer Stadium, currently sit in fifth-place in the Mountain West Conference and will look to improve its MWC tournament seeding this weekend with a victory.
On offense, Jackie Torda leads the Horned Frog attack, connecting on nine goals, while also tallying three assists. Sophomore Michelle Nguyen has had a solid sophomore campaign, netting five goals and six assists, while Lizzy Karoly has also posted five goals.
Scouting San Diego State (8-7-3)
SDSU comes into Friday's match having fallen to nationally ranked Utah, 2-1, on Sunday. The Aztecs are 4-3-1 at home this fall and bring an 8-7-3 record into this Friday's match.
Overall, San Diego State, who is 3-2-1 in the MWC, has shutout every opponent it has defeated this fall. The Aztecs on Oct. 18 defeated then No. 19 BYU, 2-0, at the SDSU Sports Deck.
SDSU is led on offense by Jackie Ragudos, who has netted seven goals on the year, including four game-winners. Ragudos has also posted three assists. On defense, Aubree Southwick has had a solid year in goal, allowing only 16 goals, while posting 94 saves.
Friday's match against SDSU will mark the fifth meeting between the two conference schools. The Aztecs lead the series 3-1-0.
Last season, TCU dropped San Diego State 1-0 in Fort Worth to close out its regular season.
Friday's match will mark only the second time in TCU's history that the Horned Frogs will play in San Diego against SDSU. The Aztecs won the lone meeting 2-0 on Sept. 14, 1991.

MWC Honors Horned Frogs
TCU sophomore forward Lizzy Karoly and freshman goalkeeper Kelsey Walters were selected as the Mountain West Conference Co-Offensive and Defensive Players of the week on Monday for their play against nationally ranked Utah.
Karoly and Soccer America
Lizzy Karoly earned her second season honor on Tuesday as Soccer America selected Karoly to its Team of the Week. She netted two of TCU's three goals, including the game winner, in a 3-0 conference victory over nationally ranked Utah this past weekend.
A Program First With Walters
TCU goalkeeper Kelsey Walters was selected to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week on Wednesday. With the selection, Walters became the first TCU player in the program's history to be named to Soccer Buzz's Elite Team of the Week. Walters, a freshman from Oklahoma City, had a dominating night in goal against Utah last weekend. Walters recorded 10 saves in the match, while also pitching a shutout. With the shutout, Walters kept the Utes off the scoreboard despite facing 24 shots on the night.
A Dominating Night
When TCU upended Utah 3-0 this past weekend it marked only the third time all season that Utah had been held without a point for a match. The victory over Utah, which hadn't lost since Sept. 6, also snapped Utah's 13-match unbeaten streak.
TCU In The Mountain West
So far during Mountain West play, freshman forward Jackie Torda is fourth in the MWC standings for shots (18) and fourth in shots per game (3.00). Michelle Nguyen and Lizzy Karoly currently rank third in goals during conference action with three.
As a team, TCU ranks second in the MWC in goals (8), third in shots (87) and fourth in assists (6). On defense, TCU is currently first in saves (37).
Cracking The Record Books
Entering tomorrow contest against SDSU, TCU freshman Jackie Torda only needs one more goal to tie for fifth all-time on the single season goal total with 10 and sixth on the single season points total with 23. With her two assist effort against Utah, Michelle Nguyen is now tied for third all-time in single season assists with six on the year.
TCU will travel to Provo, Utah, for the Mountain West Conference Tournament next week. Start time will be announced on Sunday.
