Fort Worth, Texas - The TCU Horned Frogs soccer team takes a break from Conference USA action this weekend as they head to California to take part in the Stanford/Nike Invite. TCU will play a pair of matches, one on Friday and one on Sunday. Friday's match against Loyola-Marymount is set to begin at 5:00 (PST). Sunday, the Frogs will square off against Santa Clara beginning at 11:00 (PST). All matches will be played on Maloney Field on the Stanford campus.

Last week, the Frogs had a successful weekend, picking up two Conference USA wins. Friday, the Frogs won 1-0 over Marquette on the strength of Amy Van Zandt's first half goal. Sunday, the Frogs came from behind twice to pull out a 3-2 victory of Saint Louis. Karissa Hill knocked in the game-winner early in the second half for TCU.

News & Notes:

Van Zandt Keeps Rolling
*Junior Amy Van Zandt picked up another goal on Friday to lead the Horned Frogs to a 1-0 victory over Marquette. It marked the fifth consecutive goal she had scored for TCU. The goal was also her team leading fifth of the season.

Getting In On The Action
*In Sunday's win over Saint Louis, the Frogs had two players pick up their first career goals and another pick up her second. Jessi Moore score the first goal of the game to tie the score at one. Kim Thompson score her first goal as a Frog to knot the score at two. Karissa Hill connected for her first career goal to give the Frogs the 3-2 lead and the goal eventually became the game-winner.

Exceeding Expectations
*TCU was picked by the coaches to finish 12th out of 14 teams in Conference USA. The Frogs have surprised everyone, winning three of their first four contests to open up C-USA action and are currently tied for third in the league. They open conference with a 2-1 win over Cincinnati and have also picked up victories over Marquette and Saint Louis. The only loss for the Frogs was a 2-0 defeat at DePaul.

Buchanan Shines
*Katie Buchanan has been huge for the Frogs, shutting out her second opponent on Friday and making six saves combined over the weekend. She has a 1.98 goals against average this season.

First Time Meetings
* This weekend the Frogs head to California for a non-conference weekend trip. The Frogs square off against Loyola-Marymount on Friday at 7:00 and return to the pitch on Sunday to face Santa Clara. This will be the first time in school history that TCU will face either team. Both schools are members of the West Coast Conference.

TCU vs. California Schools
*TCU is no stranger to schools from California. In the past, TCU has faced 10 opponents from California. TCU has not faired well in those meetings, picking up only two wins in 18 tries. They are a perfect 2-0-0 against San Jose State.

Scouting The Lions
*The Lions have started the season with a 5-2-2 record entering this season. A big part of their success is due to the goalkeeping of Kelly Yukihiro who has played every minute in goal for Loyola-Marymount. She has made 32 saves to go with her 0.66 goals against average. Kellie Schroeder and Shari Nishikawa have led the offensive attack with three goals a piece. Jennifer Cefalia has been the setup girl with four assists.

Scouting The Broncos
*After entering the season as preseason top five in all the polls, the Santa Clara Broncos have fallen on some hard times. The Broncos are currently 4-3-3 on the season. The Broncos have scored a lot of goals, but have been unable to win the close games. They are led by Marian Dalmy and Tracy Hess who each have four goals. Goalkeeper Julie Ryder has seen the most action in goal and has a goals against average of 0.81.
