TCU to travel to Boise State for lone match of the week
Sept. 28, 2006 FORT WORTH, Texas - Coming off its second shutout of the season with a convincing 3-0 victory over Texas-San Antonio on Sept. 23, the TCU soccer team hits the road for its final non-conference tilt of the season on Sunday with a road match at Boise State at 2 p.m. The meeting between TCU (5-5-0) and Boise State (4-4-0) will be the second all-time and the second in as many years after the Horned Frogs took last year's meeting 1-0 in overtime at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium. In that match former Horned Frog Bjarnveig Birgisdottir scored just 16 seconds into overtime. Birgisdottir was assisted by Caroline Starns and Angie Nickens on the goal. TCU is coming off a weekend where it split a pair of home matches with a 3-0 win over UTSA and a 2-0 loss to SMU. The match for TCU will mark the first time this season that the Horned Frogs play just one match in a week. Boise State has dropped three matches in a row after starting the season 4-1. Each of the Broncos last three losses have come by a score of 2-1. The Broncos are coached by Steve Lucas who is in his seventh season at the helm of Boise State's program. Boise State is led by junior Katie Keller, who has six points, including three goals. TCU is led by freshman Lizzy Karoly, who was named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 25 after posting two goals and an assist in TCU's 3-0 win over UTSA. In the match, Karoly, the league leader in shots, attempted nine shots against UTSA and two against SMU to give her 11 for the week.
Following TCU's trip to Boise, the Horned Frogs will host BYU and New Mexico at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium on Oct. 5 and 8, respectively.
