Horned Frogs set for matches with Sam Houston State and Nebraska
Sept. 13, 2006 FORT WORTH, Texas - With victories in three of its last four games, the TCU soccer team continues play this weekend with a home match against Sam Houston State on Friday and an away match at Nebraska on Sunday. TCU (3-3-0) will conclude its three-match homestand against Sam Houston State (2-5-0) with a 7 p.m. match on Friday at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium. On Sunday, the Horned Frogs travel to Lincoln, Neb., to face the 16th-ranked Cornhuskers (4-0-2) in a 1 p.m. match at the Nebraska Soccer Field. On Friday, the first 50 fans in attendance at Friday's match will receive a Go Frogs car flag. Tickets for Friday's match are $5 for adults and $3 for youth The Horned Frogs are coming off a 2-1 victory over Houston on Sept. 10 after falling 2-0 to No. 1 Notre Dame on Sept. 8. Sam Houston State enters Friday's contest with a 2-5-0 record having dropped two straight matches. Sam Houston is allowing opponents to average 3.21 goals per game, compared to TCU's average of 1.33 for opponents. In the only matchup between the two schools, TCU defeated the Bearkats 4-0 on Sept. 30, 2005.
Nebraska is 4-0-2 and is ranked 16th by Soccer America. The Huskers have won four matches in a row since opening the year with draws against Wright State and Wisconsin. Leading the Huskers is senior Brittany Timko, who has 11 points in five games and was named Big 12 Player of the Week on Sept. 11. Nebraska is 2-0 all-time against TCU, but the two teams haven't met since 1996. In 1994, Nebraska topped TCU 6-0 in Lincoln and in 1996 the Huskers defeated the Horned Frogs 4-0 in Dallas.
