The TCU Horned Frogs are set to play their final exhibition match of the 2005 preseason against Division II, Texas Woman's University on Sunday at Garvey-Rosenthal Stadium. TCU is coming off a 9-1 exhibition win over Texas Wesleyan this past Tuesday. The Frogs will open the regular season on Friday against Texas Tech at home.
A Look Back at TCU vs. Texas Wesleyan
The Frogs picked up a 9-1 exhibition victory over Texas Wesleyan, Tuesday afternoon at Garvey-Rosenthal. The highlight of the match was a four-goal performance from freshman K.D. Waters. Also picking up goals in the victory were Caroline Starns, Karissa Hill, Angie Nickens, Kim Thompson and Lauren Pope.
A New Conference
The Frogs are beginning their first season as members of the Mountain West Conference. TCU will play seven conference matches this season, two at home and five on the road. All eight conference teams are eligible for the Conference Tournament which is being hosted by UNLV the week of Nov. 2.
Frogs Begin Regular Season Aug. 26
The Horned Frogs will kick off the 2005 campaign on Friday, Aug. 26 at Garvey-Rosenthal when they host Texas Tech. The season gets underway at 5:00 p.m. On Sunday, Aug. 28, the Texas A&M Aggies will come to town for a 1:00 p.m. match.
Did You Know...
* Dan Abdalla is just the second coach to lead the women's soccer program. He replaced former head coach David Rubinson in March.
* Only two of the teams that are coming to town in 2005 have ever played a match at Garvey-Rosenthal. Texas Tech and Texas A&M are the only two schools to have played in Fort Worth. Frog fans will have the opportunity to see seven new teams in 2005.
* Seven of the teams on this year's schedule appeared in the NCAA Tournament in 2004. Texas A&M advanced to the second round.
