Nguyen invited to USASA national camp
June 18, 2007 FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU sophomore midfielder Michelle Nguyen has been selected to participate in the United States Amateur Soccer Association (USASA) national camp. The camp will be held from June 30-July 2 at the Home Depot Center in Carson, Calif. Nguyen's invitation marks the second consecutive season and second time in the program's history that a member of TCU's soccer team has attended the tryout. Last season, former TCU defender Karissa Hill attended the camp and was selected to the USASA Women's National Select Team. "It is just exciting to have TCU represented for a second year in a row," head coach Dan Abdalla said. "She has great accolades as a freshman and this will be an outstanding opportunity for her." Following the three-day camp, the participants will be narrowed down to an 18-player squad that will travel to Mexico and play matches against the Mexican national team. "I know the competition is going to be hard, but I am hoping to do well and standout among the other players," Nguyen said. Last season, Nguyen was selected to Soccer Buzz Magazine's All-Freshman Central Regional Team after finishing second on the team with nine points and second in the Mountain West Conference with 62 shots.
A native of Richardson, Texas, Nguyen also paced TCU with two game-winning goals in 2006.
