TCU earns NSCAA Team Academic Award
Jan. 12, 2006 FORT WORTH, Texas - The hard work in the classroom by the 2006 TCU soccer team was recognized by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America as the organization rewarded the Horned Frogs with the NSCAA Team Academic Award. "I think it shows that we have kids that make a commitment in every avenue in terms of athletics and academics," head coach Dan Abdalla said. "It is exciting to be recognized for all the hard work that the team has put into academics. To have an overall team GPA of 3.43 shows a strong commitment to be successful." The reward was earned through the tireless efforts of the student-athletes, coaching staff and academic services. The efforts of the coaching staff and academic services have enabled the Horned Frogs to be able to create a culture that drives academic excellence. Individually, senior defender Breanne Kaldheim was also recognized for her work in the classroom. A marketing major from Kingwood, Texas, Kaldheim received honorable mention honors as a part of the 2006 NSCAA/adidas College Women Scholar All-South Region team.
To be eligible for the NSCAA Team Academic Award a team must have a team GPA of at least 3.0 for the 2005-06 academic year.
