Volunteer Assistant Coach

Volunteer Assistant Coach Jay Fitzgerald has been coaching in the Ft. Worth/Dallas area for the past decade. He is currently the Director of Coaching for the DFW Tejanos Soccer Club where he coaches U-13 and U-14 girls in the Lake Highlands Girls Classic League.

He is also on staff with the United States U-21 Women's National Team and most recently returned from Sweden this summer where the U.S. Team won its seventh straight Nordic Cup Championship with a 4-1 victory over Norway in the final.

Jay has spent the past seven years as the head coach for the Lady Vikings at Fort Worth's Nolan Catholic High School. He holds a 134-59-20 overall record with six straight Final Four appearances.

He grew up in Arlington, Texas, where he attended high school at The Oakridge School. Upon graduating high school, he attended Creighton University. During his four years as a starter for national-power Creighton, Fitzgerald helped power the Bluejays to four consecutive Missouri Valley Conference Championships, and three consecutive NCAA tournament appearances.

Following his collegiate career, Jay participated with the United States Olympic Team in many international and domestic events, including the Olympic Festival in 1996, prior to the Atlanta Games. He was then drafted by the Harrisburg Heat of the National Professional Soccer League but turned down the offer to join the Dallas Burn (FC Dallas) of Major League Soccer. He also made appearances with the Sacramento Scorpions of the USISL's A-League.

He has enjoyed much success at coaching youth soccer at the club and Olympic Development Program level in the Ft. Worth/Dallas area and worked with the men's and women's teams at TCU during the 1998-2001 seasons.
