TCU to Close Fall Season in San Antonio
Oct. 26, 2013
FORT WORTH, Texas -- The 47th-ranked TCU women's golf team begins play Sunday at the Alamo Invitational in San Antonio.
The tournament will close the Horned Frogs' fall season.
TCU will be in action for the first time since finishing 11th at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational (Oct. 13-15) in Austin. The Horned Frogs have posted an 11th-place result in their last three tournaments after opening the fall with a third-place finish at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Wolcott, Colo.
At the 2010 Alamo Invitational, the Horned Frogs swept the team and individual championships. A second round school-record 281 keyed TCU's team title, while Brooke Beeler took medalist honors.
It was the first time since 2003, at the Waterlefe/USF Invitational in Bradenton, Fla., that TCU claimed the team and individual (D'Rae Ward) championships at the same tournament.
This year's 15-team Alamo Invitational is being played at the par 72, 6,428-yard Briggs Ranch Golf Club. Live scoring of Sunday's opening round is available at www.Golfstat.com.
Nuutinen, Maxoutopoulis and White have played in all four tournaments this season. Nuutinen has a team-best 73.4 stroke average with a pair of top-15 finishes. Maxoutopoulis and White, a freshman from Fort Worth, are second and third on TCU with 75.2 and 75.3 marks, respectively.
Maymon will be in her first tournament of the season, while Bonetti and Sborov are in their second events.
