Sutherland Ties for Seventh; Frogs Finish Eighth
GREENVILLE, S.C. (October 23, 2000)--The TCU women's golf team
placed two golfers in the top 20 and took eighth place out of 22 teams at
the Lady Paladin Invitational held this past weekend in Greenville, South
Carolina.
Junior Lori Sutherland, playing in her first tournament of the season, tied for seventh place individually with a three-day score of 220. Sutherland shot successive rounds of 72, 74 and 74 to finish with a 4-over-par total. Her finish was the best by a Horned Frogs golfer this fall. Sophomore Shannon Barr also landed a top 20 finish (tied for 18th) with a 7-over-par 223. It was Barr's second top-20 finish out of three fall events. The freshman duo of Courtney Wood (229) and Brooke Tull (238), along with senior Jennifer Patterson (240), also took to the links for TCU. The Frogs, ranked 19th in the country, had their best team score (299) during Saturday's second round and finished with a three-day total of 905. Auburn (877) won the tournament by seven strokes over South Carolina (884). Auburn's Celeste Troche was the tournament's medalist with a 6-under 210. The event took place at the 5,917-yard, par-72 Furman University Golf Course. Next up for TCU is the New Mexico State Collegiate Invitational in Las Cruces, New Mexico, on October 30-31.
