Beeler Homecoming Off To Good Start

SKOKIE, Ill. -- TCU freshman Brooke Beeler, playing in her home state, carded a 3-over-par 147 to lead the Horned Frogs into a tie for fourth place after Monday's opening two rounds of the Windy City Collegiate Classic.
Beeler's second-round 72 saw her make par on 16 of 18 holes. She had one birdie and one bogey. The Butler, Ill., native shot an opening-round 75.
The Frogs' 27-over 603 has them in a deadlock with Arizona for fourth, 12 strokes behind leader Purdue. At 591, the Boilermakers hold an eight-stroke lead over Michigan. TCU is just four shots behind the second-place Wolverines.
Valentine Derrey and Prisela Campbell are tied for 16th at 151. Both shot an opening-round 76 followed by a 75. A 2008 All-American, Derrey is playing her first tournament of the season after missing the opening two events due to injury.
After back-to-back 69s, Junthima Gulyanamitta of Purdue sits atop the leader board with a 6-under 138. Gulyanamitta holds a 5-stroke advantage over Oklahoma's Ellen Mueller.
Following a first-round 306, TCU lowered its score by nine strokes in round two with a 297.
