Valentine Derrey has been named the Mountain West Conference Co-Women's Golfer of the Month for September.
It's the second monthly MWC accolade for Derrey. She previously garnered the award in February 2007, when she became the first TCU freshman since 1997 (Angela Stanford) to win a tournament as she shared in medalist honors at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic.
A sophomore from Paris, France, Derrey shot a 2-under-par 217 to tie for 15th place at last month's Margaret Branch NCAA Preview in Albuquerque, N.M. Derrey's 54-hole score included a second round 3-under 70.
The tournament field featured the top-12 finishers from last year's NCAA Championships and additional teams currently ranked in the top 10 in the Golfweek or golfstat.com polls.
