TCU women's golf competing at Dick McGuire Invitational
Sept. 26, 2005 ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The TCU women's golf team is in 14th place after Monday's opening two rounds of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. The Horned Frogs were paced by Catherine Matranga and Camille Blackerby who both carded a 1-over-par 74 and are tied for 25th individually. Ohio State, ranked No. 24 in the Golfweek preseason poll, holds a six-shot lead after firing a 5-under 287. The Buckeyes were the only team to finish under par in the first round. Eighth-ranked Southern California and No. 14 UNLV are tied for second at 1-over 293 followed by Texas A&M (2-over 294) and No. 3 Pepperdine at 4-over 296. Ohio State's Jennifer Cassidy and Pepperdine's Eileen Vargas share the individual lead at 4-under 69. A total of 18 golfers shot scores under par on the par-73, 6,069-yard layout.
