Women's Golf in Five-Way Tie For Seventh After Round One

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - A young TCU team, rated 25th in the nation, finds itself in a logjam for seventh place following the first of three rounds at the Dick McGuire Invitational. The Horned Frogs posted a team total of 310 (+18) and sit 15 strokes behind current leader and host school New Mexico (295). Playing in her first collegiate tournament, true freshman Camille Blackerby paced the Frogs on day one with a two-over-par 75.
Blackerby played the majority of her round at or under par prior to bogeys on two of the last three holes. She currently sits in a share of 12th place individually among the 96 participants. The Horned Frogs' lineup features just two players, Brooke Tull and Traci Robison, who qualified for the Northwest Invite, the team's season-opening event.
Robison, a sophomore, shot a 76 (+3) in round one and currently is tied for 20th place overall. The Arlington, Texas product recorded the best finish of her career in the Frogs' last event, placing in a tie for 12th. Tull, a preseason third-team All-American, carded a five-over 78 in the first round. She opened the round with a birdie, but posted six bogeys and 11 pars the rest of the way.
Sophomore Stephanie Godare, who earned a spot on the 2003 Conference USA All-Freshman Team, played eight-over (81) in her first outing of the year. Godare is tied for 61st following round one. Meanwhile, true freshman Elin Emanuelsson of Sweden sits in a share of the 87th position after an 87 (+14).
The 17-team field includes seven schools rated in Golfweek's preseason poll. Joining the 25th-rated Horned Frogs among the nation's elite are No. 4 Oklahoma State, No. 11 New Mexico, No. 15 Pepperdine, No. 18 Tulsa, No. 20 UNLV and No. 29 Arizona State.
The 25th Annual Dick McGuire Invitational is being played at the UNM Championship Course (par-73, 6,069 yards) in Albuquerque, N.M. Tee times for Friday's second round begin at 8:30 a.m. (MT).
