Horned Frogs Open Their 2012-13 Campaign

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. -- The TCU women's golf team is tied for 11th after the opening two rounds Monday of the Branch Law Firm/Dick McGuire Invitational. The 40th-ranked Horned Frogs shot a first round 3-over-par 295 before a 311 for a 606 total. TCU is 18 strokes behind leader UNLV, who's at 588. Sanna Nuutinen is the top Horned Frog. The junior from Helsinki, Finland, is tied for 24th with a 3-over 149. She carded an even-par 73 before a second-round 76. Nuutinen totaled four birdies on the day. TCU sophomore April McCoy birdied two of her opening six holes en route to a first round 1-under 72. Alexandra Bonetti shot par on 15 holes in recording a first-round 76 for TCU. Horned Frog freshman Maria Maymon, in her first collegiate round, birdied four of her opening eight holes. The Huixquilucan, Mexico, native totaled five birdies as she shot a 74. Katy Cardno, TCU's lone senior, had a 76 to tie Nuutinen for the Horned Frogs' best score in second-round play. Tuesday's final round will begin with a 9 a.m. CDT shotgun start.
