Sept. 8, 2011
FORT WORTH, Texas -- Golf World has included TCU standout Brooke Beeler as one of 50 women's collegiate players to watch in the 2011-12 season.
Beeler, a two-time all-conference selection, was instrumental in TCU's 2011 Mountain West Championship.
A senior from Butler, Ill., Beeler topped TCU while placing second in the MW with a 73.7 stroke average. She won the Alamo Invitational while taking runner-up honors at the Windy City Collegiate Classic and Central District Invitational. Her opening-round 65 at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla., set a TCU record.
Beeler recorded six top-20 results in 11 tournaments, including four top-10 efforts. She was TCU's top finisher in six events.
Beeler received an exemption to play in the LPGA's 2011 State Farm Classic in June in Springfield, Ill.
Beeler closed the summer by representing the United States at the World University Games in Shenzhen, China. She tied for 18th individually in helping lead the U.S. to a bronze medal. She improved her score each day and finished with a 12-over-par 300. Her final-round 72 included an eagle on the par-5 first hole.
TCU opens its 2011-12 campaign Sept. 19 at the Golfweek Challenge in Wolcott, Colo.
