Stacey Bieber Competes in the U.S. Women's Amateur
Aug. 11, 2004
Eerie, Pa. - Stacey Bieber, one of four freshmen to represent TCU in the 2004 NCAA Regionals this spring, qualified for the 104th U.S. Women's Amateur in Eerie, Pa. One of only three Canadians to compete in the 156-person field, Bieber lasted the two stroke play rounds of the Amateur Monday and Tuesday. The Winnipeg native shot a 74 in the qualifying tournament in North Oaks, Minn., last month to reach the Amateur.
During her two-day stand at the par-72 (36-36), 6,365-yard Kahkwa Club in Eerie, Bieber shot 86 and 84. Her two-round total of 170 was not enough to finish among the top 64 individuals who will now compete in the U.S. Amateur match play.
The Horned Frog women's golf team reports back to camp later this month with the largest team in the recent years, 11 strong with four new freshmen to boost the Frogs back to Conference USA victory for the final year in the league.
