Frogs in second place after day two of NCAA Regional
May 11, 2007 ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Catherine Matranga and Elin Emanuelsson are among the top-five individuals as the TCU women's golf team sits in second place after Friday's second round of the NCAA Central Regional. The top-eight teams advance to the NCAA National Championship May 22-25 in Daytona Beach, Fla. The Frogs enter Saturday's final round nine strokes behind USC for the lead and 13 shots ahead of ninth-place Michigan State. TCU shot a second round 7-over-par 291. TCU, making its 12th consecutive postseason appearance, is closing in on its first trip to the NCAA National Championship since 2000. The Horned Frogs won the 1983 national title. Emanuelsson carded her second straight even-par 71 for TCU's low score on the day. The two 71s in this tournament represent the low rounds on the year for Emanuelsson. The senior from Nacka, Sweden, is in a four-way tie for fifth individually. Matranga, a Fort Worth native, followed her opening-round 68 with a 72. She's in sole possession of third place with a 36-hole score of 2-under 140, five strokes behind leader Jacqui Concolino of Vanderbilt. Valentine Derrey and Camille Blackerby recorded a 73 and 75, respectively, for TCU. Live scoring of Saturday's final round is available at www.golfstat.com. Team Scores TCU Scores
