Beeler Keys TCU's Opening Round At NCAA West Regional

ERIE, Colo. -- Brooke Beeler's 73 led TCU to a 302 and a tie for 12th after first-round action Thursday at the NCAA Women's Golf West Regional. The top-eight teams after Saturday's final round will advance to the NCAA Championships May 22-25 in Franklin, Tenn. The Mountain West champion Horned Frogs, making their 17th consecutive postseason appearance, are just five shots out of eighth. Beeler, the nation's 73rd-ranked player, birdied two of her opening three holes en route to three birdies on the front nine. The senior from Butler, Ill., finished with a team-high four birdies on the day and is tied for 18th individually. TCU freshman Alexandra Bonetti was even par through 11 holes before carding a 75. Senior Rachel Raastad, playing in her fourth NCAA Regional for the Horned Frogs, added a 76. MW individual champion Sanna Nuutinen recorded three birdies, including two on the front nine, en route to a 78. No. 40 Stanford shot a 1-under-par 287 and holds the team lead by one stroke over No. 6 North Carolina. With a 5-under 67, Sydney Burlison of Stanford sits atop the individual leaderboard with a two-shot advantage over Baylor's Hayley Davis.
