FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's golf team begins play Thursday at the 2006 Mountain West Conference Championship at Entrada at Snow Canyon in St. George, Utah.
The par 71, 6,299-yard Johnny Miller Signature Golf Course opened in September 1996. The 54-hole tournament runs through Saturday.
Live scoring will be available at www.themwc.com and www.golfstat.com.
The winner of the Mountain West Conference Tournament receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. The Horned Frogs, with five top-five finishes in their last seven tournaments, are seeking their 11th consecutive trip to the NCAA Regionals.
Joining No. 36 TCU among the nation's top programs are No. 11 UNLV, No. 26 New Mexico and No. 29 BYU. The Rebels are the two-time defending MWC champions with New Mexico capturing the previous four titles (2000-03).
Dating back to the 1998 WAC Tournament in Monterrey, Calif., TCU has finished among the top two teams in its last eight conference tournaments. The Frogs have won three conference championships in their history, capturing the 2002 Conference USA, 1998 WAC and 1983 Southwest Conference titles.
Stacey Bieber, a junior from Winnipeg, Manitoba, shot a career-best three-day score of 223 to place second at last year's Conference USA Tournament. Included in her total was a career-low round of 71 in the opening 18 holes.
