Patterson Earns WAC Golfer of the Week Honors
Stellar finish at Lady Rainbow Invitational propels TCU junior
FORT WORTH, Texas (April 3, 2001)--The Western Athletic Conference has announced that TCU's Jennifer Patterson has been named the WAC's women's golf Player of the Week for tournaments held during the period from March 26-April 1.
Patterson, a junior from Bethel Park, Pa., carded a personal-best finish with a sixth-place effort to lead all participating WAC golfers from TCU, Hawai'i and UTEP at the Lady Rainbow Invitational in Hawai'i last week. Putting together a career-best 54-hole total with rounds of 77-76-70-223, Patterson moved from 19th to sixth on the final day to move the Frogs into a fifth-place team finish.
Adding to the career-best performance, her closing round of 70 was a career-low round and secured her second consecutive Top 10 finish. In her previous tournament, she grabbed ninth place at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Classic.
Patterson, who is listed on the Golfstat Cup Individual rankings, has three Top 10 finishes in five events this season and has played a key role in helping the Lady Frogs maintain a Top 20 national ranking throughout the season in both the Golfweek/Sagarin and Mastercard polls.
She has been twice named to the WAC All-Academic team and also was a
2000 Academic All-American. Patterson also ranks among the Frogs' all-time
Top 20 in career scoring average.
