TCU Has Strong First Round In Austin

AUSTIN, Texas -- Brooke Beeler's 73 keyed a 298 for TCU as the Horned Frogs are in third place, just three shots off the lead, after Friday's opening round of the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational. Top-ranked UCLA shot a 295 and holds a one-stroke lead over host Texas. The 16-school field includes eight top-25 teams. Beeler is three shots off the lead and tied for seventh individually. Shannon Fish from Texas and Texas A&M's Sarah Zwartynski both carded a 70. A sophomore from Butler, Ill., Beeler parred 15 of her 18 holes. TCU freshman Louise Kristersson recorded a team-high five birdies, including three of her first seven holes, to finish with a 74. The Skivarp, Sweden, native is tied for 12th. Valentine Derrey and Rachel Raastad posted a 75 and 76, respectively, for TCU. Derrey, tied for 22nd, parred 15 holes. Live scoring of Saturday's second round is available at www.golfstat.com.
