TCU women's golf begins play Friday at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational
March 15, 2007 FORT WORTH, Texas -- The No. 27 TCU women's golf team begins play Friday at the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational in Austin, Texas. The tournament will take place at the par 72, 6,323-yard University of Texas Golf Club. Eighteen holes will be played each day through Sunday with live scoring available at www.golfstat.com. Tee times begin daily at 8:15 a.m. The 14-team field includes No. 18 Purdue and No. 24 Arkansas along with Baylor, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Minnesota, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Penn State, SMU and host Texas. TCU will be playing in the Betsy Rawls Longhorn Invitational for the fourth consecutive spring and 10th time in coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin's 13-year tenure. TCU placed fifth at last year's event. Camille Blackerby was the top Frog finisher, tying for seventh with a 13-over-par 229. Blackerby will be in this weekend's TCU lineup along with fellow seniors Elin Emanuelsson and Catherine Matranga as well as junior Carrie Morris and freshman Valentine Derrey. The Frogs feature three of the top-100 players in the nation. Matranga, ranked second in the Mountain West Conference in stroke average at 73.3, is 20th nationally. Derrey (74.2) and Blackerby (74.8), are fifth and eighth, respectively, in the MWC and 77th and 97th overall in Division I. TCU is coming off a second-place finish at last weekend's SunTrust Lady Gator Invite. Matranga was second individually. The Frogs have placed in the top six in seven of their eight tournaments during the 2006-07 campaign.
