Las Cruces - TCU junior Brooke Tull shot a three-under 69 Wednesday to finish second in the New Mexico State Price's Give Em Five Intercollegiate. As a team, the Frogs posted a final round score of 300 to finish eighth in the 20 team field. Baylor shot a 293 Wednesday to claim team honors, while New Mexico State's Alena Sharp won the individual title, finishing three shots ahead of Tull.
The round of 300, the fifth best team score of the day, allowed the Frogs to climb from 12th to eighth place. Tull, who opened the day tied for third, finished the tournament with a three-round score of 216 (75-72-69).
"We showed a lot of character today," said head coach Angie Ravaioli-Larkin. "While we are disappointed with finishing eighth, I am excited that we fought hard and competed to make up some ground. Brooke really played well. She was hitting the ball well all day, and her score easily could have been lower. Her second place finish should give her a lot of confidence for the rest of the fall."
Senior Shannon Barr posted a 75, her best round of the tournament, to finish tied for 41st with a 54-hole score of 234 (80-79-75). Sophomore D'Rae Ward shot a 78 to finished tied for 45th with a 54-hole score of 235 (81-76-78).
The Frogs will return to action on October 25, when they participate in the Furman Lady Paladin.
