TCU Golfers Tie For Fourth at the Legends

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The TCU women's golf team claimed a share of fourth place at the Shootout at the Legends in Franklin, Ind., after posting a final-round team score of 302 (+14) on Tuesday. The Horned Frogs (894), who began the day in third place, wound up 17 strokes behind tournament champion Kent State (877). Missouri edged TCU by one stroke for third place.
Senior Brooke Tull, who earlier in the day was named the Conference USA Co-Golfer of the Month for September, made an early bid for October honors after tying for second place at the Shootout. Tull shot even-par scores of 72 in all three rounds and finished with 216. Tull, the defending Conference USA Player of the Year, has now finished in the top 20 in 13 of her last 14 events dating back to the start of the 2002-03 campaign.
True freshman Camille Blackerby recorded her first career top-20 finish, placing in a tie for 15th. Blackerby, who hails from Breckenridge, Texas, shot a 74 in the final round to finish with a five-over-par score of 221. Blackerby posted the best round of the tournament by any Frog with a two-under 70 in round one.
Another true freshman, Catherine Matranga, finished tied for 27th with a 226. The Paschal High graduate scored a 76 in the final round to complete the tourney with a 226 (+10). With a 17-over score of 233, sophomore Traci Robison slipped into a tie for 52nd. She logged an 82 in the final round. Fellow sophomore Stephanie Godare tied for 74th after a 54-hole sum of 239 (+23).
TCU is next in action Oct. 24-26 at the Furman Lady Paladin Invitational in Greenville, S.C. It is the final fall event of the season for the Horned Frogs.
