TCU finishes second at BYU Dixie Classic

ST. GEORGE, Utah -- The No. 26 TCU women's golf team finished second out of 16 teams after Wednesday's final round of the BYU Dixie Classic. It was the Horned Frogs' third straight runner-up finish in a tournament and fourth in 10 events during the 2006-07 campaign. The Frogs have placed in the top six in all but one tournament. TCU shot a 10-over-par 298 for the third consecutive round to place 16 strokes behind host and 17th-ranked BYU. TCU finished ahead of No. 19 Denver and No. 8 Arizona who concluded play in third and fourth place, respectively. The Frogs also defeated fellow Mountain West Conference members San Diego State and Colorado State. Freshman Valentine Derrey was the top TCU finisher, tying for sixth individually with a 6-over-par 222. The Paris, France, native carded a final round 2-under 70 to record her fourth top-15 finish in five spring tournaments. TCU seniors Camille Blackerby and Catherine Matranga placed in a deadlock for eighth with 8-over 224s. Both secured their fifth top-10 effort on the year. Fellow senior Elin Emanuelsson posted her best round of the tournament with a 73 to tie for 10th. The BYU Dixie Classic was held at Entrada at Snow Canyon, the site of the MWC Championship which begins April 19. The league event will also represent TCU's next tournament. Team Scores TCU Scores
