Matranga's runner-up finish keys second-place effort for TCU

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Keyed by tournament runner-up Catherine Matranga, the TCU women's golf team finished second after Sunday's final round of the SunTrust Lady Gator Invite in Gainesville, Fla. Matranga carded a 74 Sunday to conclude the tournament with a 5-over-par 215. The senior from Fort Worth was five strokes behind medalist Sandra Gal of Florida. The 12th-ranked Gators won the team title by 14 strokes over the No. 28 Frogs. TCU finished ahead of No. 9 Tennessee, No. 21 North Carolina, No. 22 Michigan State, No. 25 Kent State and No. 26 Florida State. TCU's Camille Blackerby and Valentine Derrey both shot final-round 76s to tie for eighth and 11th, respectively. Blackerby concluded play with an 11-over-par 221, while Derrey totaled a 12-over 222. Frog senior Elin Emanuelsson tied for 40th with Carrie Morris finishing in a deadlock for 50th. TCU has placed in the top six in seven of its eight tournaments during the 2006-07 campaign. The Frogs return to action Friday in Austin when they begin play at the Betsy Rawls Invitational. Team Scores TCU Scores
