Blackerby Tied for Second After First Day

Parrish, Fla. - After one day of the Central District Classic, the Horned Frogs finished fourth amongst the field of 15. Sophomore Camille Blackerby, finished tied for second with a score of 72-73=145, one-over par. Senior Brooke Tull tied for sixth with three-over par. Both women began the afternoon 18 at par. The leader, Wisconsin's Malinda Johnson, had a worse second round than Blackerby, but still came out for par.
The first round of 18 found the Horned Frogs as high as second only to LSU. In a competitive second round, the scores bounced around before LSU, Michigan State, and Kansas State planted themselves ahead of the Frogs, who are 28-over par to LSU's 17, Michigan State's 20-over, and Kansas State's 23-over.
Blackerby's hold-up came on a double bogey in the first round; she had three birdies in the second round to compensate for four bogeys, keeping her at one-over par. Tull, who began the second round with Blackerby tied at third, slipped due to two double bogey's in the middle of her second 18.
Rounding out the team, sophomore Traci Robison finished the day 84-79=163. Birdies on the 10th and 15th holes kept her in the running, finishing 59th after today. Freshman Elin Emanuelsson finished with a pair of 79's for a 158 finish on the day, making up for a double-bogey on the second hole in a birdie on the fourth, bringing her to seven-over par for the second round.
