Feb. 18, 2013
PARRISH, Fla. -- TCU sophomore Alexandra Bonetti is tied for 11th individually, while the Horned Frogs are seventh as a team after Monday's opening two rounds of the Central District Invitational. Bonetti's opening-round 72, which included 16 pars, was a season low while equaling the second-best score of her career. The sophomore from Paris, France, shot a second-round 77. Bonetti's 149 has her six shots behind a trio of golfers tied for the lead at 143. After tying for 12th at last week's Lady Puerto Rico Classic, she is on pace for a second straight career-best finish. Horned Frog teammate Sanna Nuutinen matched Bonetti with a second-round 72, including birdies on two of her final four holes. Nuutinen is tied for 18th with a 151. TCU freshman Maria Maymon birdied her opening two holes in second-round play en route to back-to-back 76s. The Huixquilucan, Mexico, native recorded four birdies in round two. April McCoy totaled a team-best seven birdies on the day for TCU, including three out of four holes on the back nine in round one. McCoy and Kortnie Maxoutopoulis are tied for 38th after posting identical scores of 78-77=155. With a 12-over 588, No. 13 Vanderbilt has a two-stroke lead over host and No. 17 Michigan State. No. 53 TCU, last year's Central District Invitational champion, totaled a 606 and is 18 shots back. Tuesday's final round will begin with an 8 a.m. EST shotgun start.
