TCU Finishes Fourth in Puerto Rico
Feb. 12, 2013
RIO GRANDE, Puerto Rico -- Sanna Nuutinen's third consecutive 73 helped TCU conclude play Tuesday with a fourth-place finish at the Lady Puerto Rico Classic in Rio Grande, Puerto Rico. Nuutinen totaled three final-round birdies in finishing eighth individually with a 3-over-par 219. It was the fifth top-10 finish of her career. Alexandra Bonetti's 74, which included a pair of birdies, enabled her to tie for 12th, a career-best result for the TCU sophomore from Paris, France. Freshman Maria Maymon carded a final-round 75 to tie for 40th with Horned Frog teammate Kortnie Maxoutopoulis. Making her TCU debut, Maxoutopoulis had the Horned Frogs' low round of the tournament with an opening-day 72. Katy Cardno, the lone senior in TCU's lineup, added a final-round 76. The Horned Frogs finished at 895 and ahead of eight top-40 programs. The fourth-place result marked TCU's best finish in the 2012-13 campaign. With an 871, No. 6 Alabama won the team title by 13 strokes over No. 12 Arkansas. The Razorbacks' Emily Tubert took medalist honors with a 3-under 213. TCU returns to action Monday when it begins play at the Central District Invitational in Parrish, Fla. The Horned Frogs won last year's event by rallying from a two-stroke deficit entering the final round. Team Scores TCU Scores
