Former TCU standout Lori Tate is in her third season as an assistant coach at her alma mater.

Tate, formerly Lori Sutherland, graduated from TCU in 2002. The DeSoto, Texas, native competed in 26 events in her TCU career with a scoring average of 78.0. She had four top 10 and eight top-20 finishes.

She received the TCU Leap Frog award for most improved golfer for her freshman and sophomore seasons.

After graduation, Tate worked in private business in Fort Worth. Through the encouragement of former teammate and current LPGA Tour star Angela Stanford, Tate decided to begin a professional golf career.

Winning the 2003 Texas Women's Open served as the catalyst for Tate turning professional. She played for over two years on the Futures Tour and West Coast Golf Tour.

After her time playing professionally, Tate worked at Ridglea Golf Club as an assistant golf pro instructor. It was during her time at Ridglea that Tate met her husband, Phillip Tate, who was another assistant golf pro.
