FORT WORTH, Texas - TCU Western captain Kolby Simonson recently sat down with GoFrogs.com to share some insight into her senior campaign.
Describe how are you feeling going into the rest of the fall season?
I have no doubt that we will be on FIRE the rest of the year! I am feeling great about this season. We truly have the most amazing, talented group of riders I have ever seen. The best part is that we all get along great and bring different strategies to the table. We work together to learn what things work for our riding and what things don't.
Talk about the role you want to fill as a senior on this years team?
I am so excited to be this year's Western team captain. It is something I have been working towards since I was a freshman. I hope to help lead the team, set goals and continue to build the strong bond that we have.
How do you feel like you have improved over the summer?
I have been doing some different kinds of riding. I spent the summer sort of laid back just enjoying the time I had in the saddle, which I think was helpful. It gave me a chance to catch my breath after the tough spring season I had last year. I got the opportunity to not only learn some new things, but to remember why I love horses so much!
How do you feel about the facility change? What do you like about it?
I am so happy that TCU Equestrian finally gets the chance to have their own place. Being at the new facility will be great for our season. It is an amazing place that will allow us to stay together as a team during meets. Our horses are also enjoying it and are being spoiled daily.
Going into the rest of this season what preparations have you been making to be the best rider you can be?
I have been preparing myself mentally. I have spent time reflecting on the past three years and what I need to do in order to continue having a successful season.
