Aug. 25, 2010
FORT WORTH, Texas - The TCU equestrian program announced on Wednesday that it will have a new home for the 2010-11 school year.
The Horned Frogs will compete and house their horses at October Hill Farm in Hudson Oaks, Texas. The facility is located just 25 miles west of Fort Worth and is situated over 200 acres. It is overseen by President and General Manager Wendy Davis Gerrish, who graduated from TCU with a master's degree in liberal arts in 1999, and Erin Davis Walsh, Vice President of Operations and head rider.
"We are excited about moving to October Hill, it is giant step forward in our program and one we have been needing to take for a while," said head coach Gary Reynolds. "Wendy Davis Gerrish and Erin Davis Walsh are both TCU alumni and we are so grateful to them for allowing us to move to such a fantastic place. It is truly one of the premier collegiate facilities in the nation."
October Hill Farms boasts a 28,800 square foot fully enclosed arena, which is surfaced with state-of-the-art Terra2000 footing. The riding arena, which is a 120x240 riding space, is structured with retracting overhead doors and mechanically controlled windows that allow for air circulation.
The property also features four barns to go along with 14 different pastures.
TCU will house its horses in the North Barn, which includes 20 10x10 stalls, automatic waterers and two wash stalls with on-demand hot water systems.
