TCU completes action filled week with fourth place finish at Best of West Tournament
March 4, 2007 FRESNO, Calif-- The TCU equestrian team finished fourth at the Best of the West Tournament, Sunday, to cap off what has undoubtedly been the most historic week in its history. TCU compiled a total of 27 points for the two day event after adding six on Sunday in the English competitions. The Frogs finished just behind South Dakota State who had 30. Fresno State won the tournament with a grand total of 64 points. In the last eight days TCU has had its first regular season road game, against Texas A&M, earned its first ever win against the defending national champion Auburn, and competed in its first tournament this weekend. "We had moments of absolute brilliance, and incredible horsemanship," TCU head coach Gary Reynolds said about his team's performance this weekend. "However we also had that interrupted by mental mistakes." TCU understands that for a team who is learning what it takes to win at the national level, there will be ups and downs. Their hope is the ups start to outnumber the downs going forward. "This team has tremendous talent, but we are also very green at this sport," Reynolds said. "We will make mistakes, but we will learn from those mistakes." Next for the Lady Frogs is preparation for South Carolina on March 31 in Mansfield, Texas to close out the regular season. Depending on how things shake, out the Frogs could earn a bid to the Varsity Equestrian National Championships in Waco, Texas April 18-20. All action can be followed on gofrogs.com.
