TCU Equestrian places third in first day of Best of West tourney
March 3, 2007 FRESNO, Calif-- Fresh off their first win in program history Thursday, TCU placed third in the first day of the Best of the West tournament in Fresno, California. The Lady Frogs represented one of five schools competing Saturday, with SMU expected to arrive for Sunday's events. The schools involved were TCU, South Dakota State, Delaware State, Tennessee-Martin and Fresno State which had its red and blue teams compete to comprise a total of six teams in the event. The squads were divided into two brackets. TCU was in bracket two with the Fresno State blue team and Tennessee-Martin. In bracket two, TCU was edged 8-7 by Fresno State's blue team. In the match for third place, TCU beat South Dakota State 5-1, with Fresno State's red team beating its blue team for first place overall. Carrie von Uhlit picked up her third MVP of the season as she was named MVP in the Reining event. Von Uhlit, individually, is undefeated on the season.
