Horned Frogs Prepare for Fresno State Friday

FORT WORTH, Texas – Fresh off its victory over No. 6 Baylor, No. 8 TCU continues its homestand Friday afternoon with a 12 p.m. contest against Fresno State at Turning Point Ranch. The Horned Frogs picked up their second victory in league play last weekend defeating No. 6 Baylor, 12-7. With the win, TCU moved to 4-3 overall and 2-2 in the Big 12. “I'm excited to host Fresno State this Friday,” said Hunt Seat head coach Logan Fiorentino. “The Bulldogs are a good team and will challenge us in all of the events. Our team is coming off of a great win against a good Baylor squad and we are looking forward to keeping the positive momentum rolling this weekend. Follow The Horned Frogs The All-Time Series Home Sweet Home Scouting TCU The Frogs are 5-1 in Western, while Hunt Seat squad has posted a 3-3 mark heading into this weekend. Several individuals have scored impressive victories during the 2012-13 campaign. On the Western side, Kolby Simonson and Alexie Estrada will look to go to 5-2 on the season this Friday in Reining and Horsemanship, respectively. Both are 3-1 on the season against Big 12 competition. Against Baylor, Samantha Bayer and Katelyn Gray went undefeated in competition, going 2-0 last Friday night in Horsemanship and Reining, respectively. Several student-athletes have also shined on the Hunt Seat side as the Frogs head into this weekend’s match-up against Fresno State. Kaitlin Perry and Demi Stiegler are coming off MOP honors in Equitation on the Flat and over Fences against Baylor, respectively. On the Flat, Stiegler comes into this weekend with a 5-1 mark, while Caitlin Ader will look to improve to 5-1-1 on the year in Equitation on the Flat. Scouting Fresno State Against the Tigers, Macy Wilson and Ciara Kozlowski led the way earning Most Outstanding Player honors, respectively. In Equitation on the Flat, Wilson scored a 75 to claim MOP accolades, while Kozlowski posted a score of 69.5 in Reining to garner honors. Other notables for Fresno State include Kimberly HewsonBudnik who recently placed third overall at the Collegiate Equitation Challenge in Florida. Last Time Out The Horned Frogs, who improved to 5-1 in Western this season and 4-0 in conference play, dominated the Bears in Reining last Friday, claiming a 3-1 decision. The Purple and White outscored Baylor by a score of 345-338. Sophomore Samantha Bayer, who went 2-0 on the day, shined in the event, claiming her first MOP of the year. Bayer opened her impressive night in Reining downing Claire Edwards, 69.5-65.5. Also victorious was Alexi Child and Katelyn Gray who defeated Parris Rice and Olivia Rogers, respectively. TCU, who outscored the Bears 694-663 last Saturday, had strong showings by several individuals as both Kaitlin Perry and Demi Stiegler recorded MOP accolades. In Equitation over Flat, the Purple and White edged Baylor by one point, winning by a final score of 3-2. Perry led the way, defeating Kim Woodsum, 83-68. With the win, Perry garnered her second MOP of her career and first of the season on the Flat. She also recorded her first conference win against the Bears. Stiegler, who also competed last weekend at the prestigious Collegiate Equitation Challenge, led TCU in Equitation over Fences, recording her third MOP of the year, downing Paige Parker, 77-75.
