Head Coach Gary Reynolds enters his sixth season and has quickly established a national power in Fort Worth.
Under his direction the Horned Frogs have an impressive collection of accolades. These accolades include appearances at the National Championships in each season, while bringing home a 2008 Varsity Equestrian Western National Championship. Individually, Carrie von Uhlit was the 2009 Varsity Equestrian Reining National Champion, while Courtney Chown took second-place accolades in Horsemanship in 2009 under Reynolds' direction.
During the 2010 Varsity Equestrian National Championships, TCU posted its highest finish in program history. The Western team collected a fifth-place finish, while the Hunt Seat team placed sixth overall in Waco.
In 2010-11, TCU once again was part of the nation's best, ranking in the Varsity Equestrian top 10 the entire season. During the course of the season, the Frogs' picked up key wins over nationally ranked Auburn, Fresno State and Oklahoma State. Courtney Chown, Ashley Aikman and Callie Selchau made program history, earning the program's first ever Varsity Equestrian All-America accolades under Reynolds watch. Chown was a unanimous All-America selection in Horsemanship after going undefeated during regular-season action, while Aikman earned honorable mention honors.
The 2009-10 season saw the equestrian squad make program history once again. As a team, TCU finished in fourth-place at the 2010 Varsity Equestrian National Championships. The Western squad collected fifth-place, while the Hunt Seat team placed sixth overall on the final day of the national championships. The No. 4 Western team upended the No. 3 Oklahoma State 6-2 in Waco. The No. 12 Hunt Seat team dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 6 Oklahoma State to earn sixth-place at nationals. The Frogs went 10-7 on the season which led to the highest place finish at the Varsity Equestrian National Championships in program history.
In 2009, the Frogs collected runner-up honors in the western division at the 2009 Varsity Equestrian National Championships. The Purple and White were led by Carrie von Uhlit, who captured the National Championship in reining last spring. Courtney Chown also collected runner-up honors in horsemanship at the National Championships. Reynolds also helped the Frogs Hunt Seat team make its first ever appearance at the National Championships last spring.
In just the second year of its program, Reynolds led TCU to a 2008 National Champion win on the western side. The Frogs entered the tournament as the nation's No. 1 seed and finished the season with a perfect 15-0 record. TCU beat No. 2 seed and rival Georgia in the Western final with a score of 1,027-1,026.
In his first campaign, Reynolds led the Frogs to their first National Championship bid, earning a berth on the western side, and becoming the first school in Varsity Equestrian history to reach the postseason in just its first year.
On March 1, 2007, TCU earned its first win in school history, defeating then-defending national champion Auburn 9-7.
Reynolds holds judge cards in several of the larger equine breed registries. He has also officiated at numerous national and international world shows, stock shows, major circuits and futurities.
Reynolds managed Shepherds Valley Arena in Benbrook, Texas, from 1997-99. He supervised arena operations as the facility hosted equine events from cuttings and team ropings to summer youth ministry camps.
Reynolds was director of amateur events/assistant director of shows for seven years for the American Quarter Horse Association. He managed daily functions and was the arena director for 14 world championship shows.
A native of Canyon, Texas, and a 1981 graduate of Texas Tech, Reynolds received a Bachelor's degree in animal business.
