Kindel Huffman is in her third season as a coach at TCU, taking over for the 2011-12 season as interim head coach for the Western program. Huffman is a TCU graduate who competed on the equestrian team from 2006 to 2008. While being in charge of the Hunt Seat team, Huffman has seen great success during both the 2009-10 and 2010-11 seasons.
The Frogs once again were among the nation's best, qualifying for nationals for a second-straight season. Under Huffman's watch, TCU dropped Kansas State in the opening round of nationals, marking the second-straight season in which the Horned Frogs won their opening round contest. Individually, Callie Selchau made program history, earning Honorable Mention Varsity Equestrian All-America accolades in Equitation on the Flat. The California product wrapped up regular-season action with a 5-1 record and one MVP.
At the 2010 Varsity Equestrian National Championships, the Frogs claimed their first ever victory on the English side of nationals. The win came with a 5-3 decision over Baylor on the opening day. In its next match, TCU dominated the No. 8 Fresno State in a 6-2 decision to advance to the next round versus Oklahoma State. The No. 12 TCU Hunt Seat team dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 6 Oklahoma State to earn sixth-place.
Huffman, who was named the 2007 Bob Lilly TCU Athlete of the Year by the Greater Fort Worth Fellowship of Christian Athletes, closed out her senior season collecting a team-high five MVP accolades, while recording a perfect 11-0 record in horsemanship. The Norco, Calif., native also helped the Western team capture the 2008 Varsity Equestrian Western National Championship in only its second year as a program.
