Briefly . . . .
The Lady Frogs are eight days away from their exhibition opener against Lake Truck Lines (WNBA). The contest is scheduled for 2pm at Daniel-Meyers Coliseum. On Friday and Saturday, TCU went through a couple practice sessions after taking a couple of days off while Ashley Davis and Adrianne Ross attended MWC Media Day.
Everyone was in high spirits Friday, joking and laughing, and it seemed like TCU was excited to be back on the court.
"The girls' legs were much better and it looked like we healed up in a couple of days," said TCU head coach Jeff Mittie. "We've got a lot nagging injuries now, so it's good to see the legs bounce back. I had a couple of them tell me the break was too long so that's always good. They were anxious to get back on the court and it was a good break for us. We certainly healed up."
According to Coach Mittie after practice on Friday . . .
On the guards
"The guards are going to have to control the ball better than they did today. They are outstanding players and I expect them to play at a certain level."
On stressing communication to the players after practice
"I just think that there was an issue with us last year that when frustration hit, we would not go to the next play. I think communication out on the floor is so critical. There are times in games when we can't hold their hands...they've got to solve problems. You can be part of the problem or part of the solution. We constantly stress to them that we want five problem solvers out there on the court."
On the outstanding offensive performance by freshman Shayla Moore
"Shayla has some ability and I think she is starting to come along. She got off to a little slow start, but now we are seeing the kinds of things she is capable of doing. I thought we had a lot of the newcomers look good today."
Quote of the Day . . .
"OKAY, SHAYLA!!!!" - TCU teammates yelled from the sidelines after Shayla Moore sunk shot after shot from beyond the arc in an offensive drill.
