FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU women's basketball freshman Amanda Holmes will transfer from the university following the conclusion of the spring 2005 semester, head coach Jeff Mittie said Thursday. Mittie cited a desire to be closer to home as her motive for leaving.

Holmes, a 6-foot-2 forward who hails from Topeka, Kan., is undecided as to which school she will attend for the 2005-06 academic year.

"I wish Amanda well," Mittie said. "Her desire to be closer to her family was a big factor in this decision. I certainly appreciate her hard work and wish her nothing but the best."

Holmes saw action in 16 of TCU's 33 games last season, averaging 4.9 minutes, 1.1 points and 1.4 rebounds. She missed almost the entire month of January after her tonsils and adenoids were removed to treat her sleep apnea.
