Sverrisdottir Honored By Mountain West Conference Monday

FORT WORTH, Texas - Senior Helena Sverrisdottir was honored on Monday as the Mountain West Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week. It is the second MWC weekly honor for Sverrisdottir this season and the ninth of her career.
Sverrisdottir, an Iceland native, led the Horned Frogs to a 2-0 record this past week, capturing victories over Utah and at New Mexico.
In a 71-60 win over the Utes, Sverrisdottir scored a game-high 23 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor, including 5-of-6 from deep. She also added seven rebounds and six assists.
Sverrisdottir followed it up with another all-around performance in helping TCU record only its second win ever in New Mexico's historic Pit Saturday. Overall, Sverrisdottir recorded a game-high 24 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including 4-of-7 from behind the arc against the Lobos.
For the week, Sverrisdottir only missed an astonishing six shot attempts on 12-of-18 shooting (.667 percent), including going 9-of-13 from deep (.692). Sverrisdottir, who averaged five boards and seven assists in the two games, was also perfect from the charity stripe, going 14-for-14.
The Horned Frogs will close their regular-season Wednesday against Air Force. Start time is set for 6:30 p.m. at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
