TCU set to honor senior Ashley Davis on Saturday
Jan. 5, 2007
Mark your calendars to come out a cheer the Lady Frogs on Saturday (2 pm), as it is "Ashley Davis Day" at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
Davis is ranked second in the Mountain West Conference in scoring and is first in 3-pointers made per game and 3-point field goal percentage. Nationally, she is the seventh-best long-range shooter (percentage) in the NCAA! With 46 3-pointers already this season, Davis is on track to break the school's single season 3-point record. Jill Sutton currently holds the mark with 81 all-time treys made during the 1997-98 season. Davis needs 35 more to tie her record and with more than half the season to go, things look bright for her.
Davis -- who owns the No. 6 spot with 66 3-pointers last season -- has made a trey in a league-best 24 straight games. In addition, with 200 3-pointers in her career, she ranks second on the all-time TCU career chart.
Besides basketball, Davis is a success off the court, too. She has a 3.4 GPA in graduate school and will earn her master's degree in May. On days away from basketball, she is a substitute teacher at local schools around Fort Worth. She is also very involved in philanthropic work and enjoys working children in the community.
Ashley attended Taft High School (San Antonio) and is the daughter of Lynwood and Mary Davis.
