Lady Frogs get past Everyones Internet, 64-61

FORT WORTH, Texas -- The TCU women's basketball team posted a 64-61 win over Everyones Internet on Saturday in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum in Fort Worth, Texas. With the victory, the Lady Frogs finished the preseason with a 2-0 record.
After Natasha Lacy hit a three 43 second into the game, TCU did not get another field goal until the 10:02 mark on a layup by Lorie Butler-Rayford. Everyones Internet opened up an eight-point lead, 14-6, with 9:20 to play in the half after Latonya Johnson canned a jumper. TCU came alive and closed out the half outscoring EV1 27-13 to take a 33-27 lead.
The Lady Frogs started slow from the field, making just 2-of-11 (.182) shots, however, they closed out the period going 11-of-20 (.550). Butler-Rayford led all scorers with 10 points and added four rebounds.
TCU was able to increase its lead by nine, 42-33, after 5:18 had ticked off in the second half on a bucket by Lacy. EV1 responded with an 11-0 run over the next 3:30 that was capped by Jae Cross's three-pointer. The Lady Frogs came back and were able to tie the score up two times, the last of which was at 48-all with 7:39 to go.
Following a media timeout at 7:21, Vanessa Clementino drained a trey to give TCU the lead for good. EV1 was able to close within one at 62-61 with 27 seconds remaining after two free throws by Naomi Mobley, but the Lady Frog defense held Everyones Internet scoreless the rest of the way.
Lacy led TCU in scoring with 16 points while adding six rebounds and five steals. Butler-Rayford tossed in 14 and nine boards off the bench. Ashley Davis tallied a dozen points, four rebounds and three assists.
Keila Beachem was the game's leading scorer with 20 coming on 5-of-11 shooting and a 10-for-10 effort at the free-throw line. She added 11 rebounds as well. Johnson was EV1's other double digit scorer with 12. Mobley fell two points shy of a double-double with 11 boards.
TCU shot 39.3 percent (24-of-61) for the game, while EV1 was 20-of-58 for a 34.5 percent clip. EV1 out-rebounded the Lady Frogs 42-35, however, TCU held a 13-8 advantage on second chance points. TCU won the turnover battle 19-22 and outscored Everyones Internet 34-19 off miscues.
The Lady Frogs open up the regular season at home Nov. 18 at 7 p.m. CST against Long Beach State. TCU follows up with a Nov. 21 showdown against No. 8/5-ranked Georgia at 7 p.m. in Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
