FORT WORTH--TCU sent its five seniors out in style Wednesday evening with an 85-50 victory over Air Force at Daniel-Meyer Coliseum.
The contest marked the final regular-season home appearances for Lady Frog seniors Lorie Butler-Rayford, Moneka Knight, Jenna Lohse, Helen Roden and Adrianne Ross.
The victory, also the 400th win program history, moved the Frogs' season record to 19-10, including 12-3 in Mountain West Conference play. Air Force, a possible first-round opponent for TCU in next week's MWC Tournament, fell to 10-17 overall and 4-11 in the league.
TCU dominated the Falcons through both halves, as the squad shot in excess of 50 percent from the floor in each period for only the second time this season (Dec. 18 vs. Oklahoma State) Wednesday marked the team's third-straight victory by at least 30 points.
As usual, the Frogs relied on strong defense and a balanced offensive attack. While each individual scored, eight players totaled at least seven points. The bench came up big again and out-scored the Air Force reserves by a 34-15 margin. TCU also forced 24 Falcon turnovers while committing only 12 itself. The miscues helped the Frogs post a 36-9 advantage in points off turnovers.
Roden led the squad in scoring for only the third time this season with 12 points. She also pulled down six boards while dishing out four assists. Ross and Lohse each added 11 points. Lohse recorded a game-high nine rebounds to fall just shy of her first career double-double. Butler-Rayford, Danielle Nunn and Helena Sverrisdottir chipped in nine points each.
Pamela Findlay scored a game-high 17 points to lead Air Force after knocking down 7-of-10 shots from the field.
Air Force took the lead to start the game, posting an 11-7 advantage in the opening five minutes, before TCU found its rhythm in the form of a 12-2 run. Following an Emily Carter trey to start the spurt, Lohse made a pair of layups off nice feeds from driving teammates. Knight concluded the stretch with a layup and ensuing foul shot after making a tough steal to follow a Sverrisdottir basket.
While the Falcons were able to stop the Frog surge with a bucket by Jamie Davis, TCU continued its roll by scoring the game's next 11 points to up the margin to 16, 31-15. Roden totaled five points on two layups and a free throw, while Carter added four points, including her second trey of the half.
Ross gave the Frogs their largest lead of the half by sinking a jumper in the lane with only one second remaining for a 21-point lead, 47-26, at intermission. TCU's 47 points were only one point shy of its top first-half output entering the evening (48 vs. Coppin State; Dec. 8).
TCU shot 53.3 percent from the field in the opening half while forcing the Falcons into 15 turnovers, which were converted into 22 Frog points.
The Frogs continued to push the temp in the second half to coast to victory.
The lead crossed the 30-point mark with 1:57 remaining when Butler-Rayford found Lohse downcourt for a layup after making a steal.
The Lady Frogs conclude their regular-season schedule Saturday, when they meet BYU in Provo, Utah, for a 6:30 p.m. nationally televised contest on CSTV.
